| It felt so weird, walking from the apartments to the mansion. Back home it had been the other way around: the dashing billionaire leaving his stately mansion to pick up his date from her apartment. Strange how fate decided to turn the tables. At 1900, the appointed time, Oliver found himself standing at the door to the Generals Mansion. He wore a well tailored charcoal grey suit with a black tie and polished dress shoes. He was the spitting image of Oliver Steele, CEO of Steele Consolidated. But tonight he was Oliver Steele, Airman of the Human Army and date to the General Liara. He let his lip lift into a smirk. He checked the watch that sat on his wrist: 1901, fashionably late. He straightened himself, checking that his suit was clean and wrinkle free. He tousled his hair just a little more, then raised his right hand, clenched in a fist, and knocked sharply on the door. Sounds of movement could be heard from the other side. He wondered what vision he might be treated to. He'd seen her in her more formal business attire just hours earlier, but what would she transform into? Women were particularly good at transformations. One moment they could appear stern and direct, driven by a single purpose. But just hours later could look a dream, wearing a gorgeous dress over that luscious body, enough to tease just the perfect amount. It was verging on miraculous. But how would Liara surprise him this evening? He had yet to see. But he already had their night planned. Cliche as it was, it seemed to work. And every time it had a happy ending. | |

| When she got home, she quickly jumped into the shower. She washed away the frustrations of her day, cleaned out the doubt and freshened up her body perfectly for him. She scrubbed and washed the dead skin cells from her body. As she did so, she let the water run down her body. She pressed her head to the wall of the shower and closed her eyes. Was she even ready for this? She knew what the night could end with and honestly, she had been scared. If Caleb was up in heaven, then would he be looking down at her, watching everything? The weight of that thought hung over her shoulders, but she knew it was time to move on. As she shut off the water, she stepped out and wrapped a towel around her body. She quickly dried off and started to get dressed. She put on a black dress, tight to her frame with a v-neck style which allowed her cleavage to be seen. She worse high heels, black with a silver trim. Around her neck, she wore a necklace her father had once given her so long ago, on her sixteenth birthday. She fixed her hair, keeping half of it down, while the rest was pulled up on the top of her head. With the sound of the knock on the door, she walked into the foyer. She looked around the house, making sure everything was tidy before smoothing her dress over her body. She walked to the door, and opened it slowly. "Late for our first date... bad form Oliver." She joked with a smile. "So tell me, what does the Billionaire have in store for me? Any huge plans for the night?" | |

| The sound of movement on the other side of the door alerted him to her presence there. Soon enough he would see her, beautiful as she had been the first time he saw her. The door was flung open and there she was, all prettied up for their date. He took a moment to eye her form, gaze travelling up her long legs, over her shapely form, lingering on the exposed cleavage, then finally resting on her face. That dress did look lovely on her. He smirked, "Fashionably," he replied in response to her comment on his timing. He held out his arm for her, allowing the opportunity for the General to link their arms together and walk with him. In any case they set off down the path side by side. "When you have a large amount of money at your disposal, the extraordinary becomes ordinary and the ordinary becomes extraordinary. I thought we might head into town, have a quiet dinner, a few drinks, get to know one another..." He trailed off, turning to offer her a slight smile as they reached the road. He tried to gauge her reaction to his plans. He whistled for a taxi. Then, hastily, "But, if that's not to your liking, we could always do something else?" He had been hoping for a nice night with a lovely woman. He took this date seriously and wanted to actually spend the time getting to know her. | |

| When he had initially opened the door, she was shocked to have found him there so late. What was his issue that he could not be on time? Was this going to be a real problem with him? Would he always be late if it meant real danger to the human race. Rumors had spread like wildfire that a human had shot and killed a Shifter, an important one. Liara could not confirm or deny the rumors, but she tried to think the best of her people. Shifters were bad, yes, but did any truly deserve getting shot in such a cowardly manner? She smiled as she grabbed her clutch and placed it between her arm and body, holding it tight. She shook her head gently and gave him a smile. "Billionaire or not, please make it a habit to be fifteen minutes early to everything everywhere." she said in a serious tone, yet the smile to her features would prove she was not honestly angry with him. She grabbed his arm and held him close to her as they walked out. "No, this is your date so I want you to take control. It would be nice to be treated out every once and a while. Being in charge constantly can get so tiresome, if you understand my meaning." She gave him a smile and walked off her porch with him. "We can go anywhere you wish. I promise I will not judge you. The only thing I want a say in is the drinks and my food. Everything else will be up to you." | |

| A taxi quickly made its way towards them. Oliver kept his eyes on the car, but nodded appropriately as she spoke. Of course." He gave a slight smile. Sometimes the old Oliver came to the surface. This Oliver was a cheater, a lazy bludger and a rich boy. He was also consistently late. This new, post-island Oliver was a far better man. But he was human, sometimes he slipped up. And sometimes he did it for the sake of remembering who he once was. The car finally pulled to a stop and the Airman opened the door to let the lady enter. "After you," He gestured with his hand. When she had taken her seat he slid in after her, closing the door. From inside his jacket he produced a neatly folded square of paper which he handed to the driver. "Take us to this address please," he said lowly, "Make it quick." Something in his voice told the driver he meant business because in next to no time they had arrived in downtown outside the door of a nondescript restaurant. He casually slipped the driver a few bills, including a generous tip, before opening the car door. Always the gentleman, he offered a hand to aid the lady in disembarking the vehicle, smiling the whole while. He placed a hand on the small of her back, guiding her to the little door that sat between the windows of two much larger restaurants.
Inside was a quaint little Italian restaurant, lit with soft mood lighting perfect for couples on dates and a hidden pianist stroking his keys to produce beautiful music. Few knew of this place and fewer still could gain entry. But Oliver Steele being who he was needed no introductions. They walked to the podium where a smiling maitre d' greeted them. "Hello and welcome to the Vineyard Mr Steele. Would you like me to find you and your friend a seat?" He smiled, his deep voice smooth and alluring. "Yes please, thank you Jodi." She grabbed two menus from beneath the podium and lead them to a table more towards the centre of the room. It wasn't private enough for his liking. As she stood there, waiting for them to take their seats, he slipped her a bill and said softly, "Maybe something a little quieter." His hand returned to the small of Liaras back as they were shown a small table for two by the back window, overlooking the beautiful courtyard outside. Oliver held out Liaras chair for her to take her seat before settling himself. "I'll be back with the wine list in a moment Mr. Steele. Would you like some water for the table?" Jodi asked. "Please. He smiled at her before turning to his date, blue eyes shining in the soft light. | |
