If I Stay [Private] Empty
PostSubject: If I Stay [Private]   If I Stay [Private] Icon_minitimeSun Aug 10, 2014 1:29 am

The limits did not exist. They were endless - an infinite amount of ways which someone could not decipher alone, nor ever. Thousands of bright warriors hung from the massive, dark blue wrath that covered the skies above. Far off into the mountains could she see the rest of the color; slowly and effortlessly cascading down with the sun tucked somewhere within it to rest. Only then once that round ball of fire finally sleep and the hours will temporarily be filled with silence and destruction. And then there was always the moon. It had completed it's shape to a whole, as it had been reshaping all of that month in advance, and played a delicate role of accompanying the star scattered air quite nicely. To her knowledge, the nights of the full noon were known to be the most dangerous to her vulnerable species; but in a way, she no longer learned to care as much as to what happened to her. Death was acceptable as of now. She had completed her tasks of finally joining the department and working along side many others which have filled her with a clean happiness. Although, there was still that loneliness she sensed, and could side it with the idea of the humans needing more in quantity over quality. Perhaps she should help Liara into spreading the world a bit more and a lot more secretly than she had been trying to do as a General; as of now, she would just train and keep to herself until come time where she had the chance ot tell her, or bring the idea up when they were alone. Maybe she could talk to Wesley about things as well in that case. They had a nice bond, she assumed, and maybe he'd give her the chance of passing it on to the rest of the higher rankings. The young Airman eventually shrugged it off and rolled a set of nimble fingers through her long, dark brunette hair that fell in loose, natural southern curls along her backside. She had been growing it this way since she was a little girl in boots, and still has been able to keep up the tradition of wearing the same style no matter how many times it'd change with the rest of the technology-built world today. As for weapons, it was another story.

Bow in hand, she gripped it firmly in place so it wouldn't slip from her grasps as she emerged closer to the pass. She wore a black white-beater that made her body seem a lot more slim and accented to her hour-glass figure and bust. For bottoms, she had slipped into a simple pair of dark camouflaged joggers, a light fabric made easier for running back at the camp's base. It was not apart of their uniform in particularly, but she did enjoy wearing them for training purposes and lounging around the work's center with the rest of the small group of the soldiers. Her feet were paired with a normal running shoe, their colors of a solid black and dark grey. Her hair was loose and pulled into a low bun, keeping some of the strands to easily fall out and normally frame her angular-shaped face and hug her slightly high cheekbones. She of course unfortunately had forgotten her night-vision glasses at base, but she would just have to manage by her sense of hearing and ability to see so far in dark areas, like most humans would without the proper tools. They didn't always have such nice things to help them along the way, surely they used with what they had from the land, if not themselves as their own weapon. Skyler admired those whom worshiped the land so long ago and the weapons they attempted to construct in that time of little technology and machinery. She still is able to find herself amazed by how much has changed in so many years, though some of it is a slight surprise. Humans, or actually, all types of individuals, were meant to evolve and change the world, and it would keep changing forever until the earth would eventually come to a final stand. Maybe it'd end in destruction - and perhaps maybe, it'd come to a peace finally. She dreamed of what it would be like for kids to walk out their houses again and never have to worry about a werewolf, or perhaps a nasty vampire to come around and kill them. Or what it'd be like to fall in love with another race and completely be accepted to society. The human believed everyone deserved a chance to be heard and favoured for who they were, no matter the species or home they came from. Love was to be something that anyone could experience and earn; now that society has accepted gay marriages and things along that line, why was it so hard to understand the mixed species marriages or matings, however it was to them. Didn't everyone deserve that life for themselves?

She crouched low to the ground and hid quietly behind a neighboring boulder that had nearly blocked her path from walking across the elder's pass bridge crossing the little stream far below. Her arrows hung neatly behind her shoulders by a leather strap that crossed over her chest. Stopping just short of being behind it, she leaned on the large rock and looked over and around it to see if anything where in range of spying on her. When seeing the coast was clear, she glanced down at her phone to see if she had any messages, leaving the notice with General Liara to say she would be out for a while and try to get back to camp before midnight. It was 2200 as of now, which meant she had enough time to get some training weaved in those two hours before it was time to head back to base. She had work tomorrow; she would at least need a couple hours to energize up before the usual daily morning routine. She would just have to push through the morning work-out they normally set her at on whatever energy she had vamped up in her sleeping time. When she had sent the message, she put her phone on silent and carried on with her tasks. She made it across the rock-carved pass and dipped low while slowly removing one of her arrows to be positioned into the bow's string and her hand. Holding it pointed to the ground, she bent her knees and stalked closer until looking up at the sudden noise. She looked to her left, wondering if it were just a rabbit, and aiming quickly to get it in time. Even if it weren't a rabbit, she wasn't going to take the chance of allowing the mystery object to hurt her. She fired, hoping it'd either hit whatever moved, or scared it off with the ricocheting sound of it bouncing off the boulder walls. Skyler exhaled gradually after the shot and craned her neck around to see what had happened. Maybe it was all in her head and it wasn't actually something but just the wind that had scared her.

If I Stay [Private] Empty
PostSubject: Re: If I Stay [Private]   If I Stay [Private] Icon_minitimeWed Aug 13, 2014 12:56 am

Pass of the Elders, they called it. Jagara had many times heard of the stories surrounding the secluded territory, where aged tribal humans were rumored to travel and accept death as it called to them. It was quite noble of the Native Americans, to live as one with nature and meet every part of life with honor, even its end. Jagara padded along quietly at dusk, weaving through a maze of boulders and crags. If she wanted to, she could easily leap up onto one of the boulders and continue on her way above the ground, but Jagara felt just fine among the greying shadows of the path below. Her ash pelt blended in with the darkening world around her. Paws that were wide and covered in dense, soft fur that shot out in tufts between her pads allowed her to move silently. Eventually, the world around her was plunged into darkness. Naturally, her pupils expanded with the diminishing light and she continued on her evening adventure. How annoying it must be – not to be able to see clearly in the dark. Oh, the poor humans, with their gadgets and lesser senses. Jagara did not pity them, but rather their entire existence. They were a pathetic and destructive race, producing only problems to others. Yes, they were the creators of shifters and mora, but they were also the persecutors of everyone different from them. There was a time when Jagara only wanted peace and safety in a world infested by them. Those days were long gone.

In about an hour, the auxiliary turned and began heading back in the direction of home after deciding there was little else to see here. She picked up to a brisk trot, staying acutely alert of her surroundings with her ears pricked and jaws slightly open to scan every faint scent with the sensory organ at the roof of her mouth. As she came closer to where the pass began, Jagara felt a despicable tangy smell hit her. It was evident that she was no longer alone. Her heavy paws began to take very light steps, propelling her forward with a spring in each trotting stride. She was not afraid of running into someone out here, or even elsewhere, but she had no intention to waste her time.

Something whizzed a good few inches behind her tail and hit the boulder behind it with a clang. She knew what it had to be. A sharp glare shot in the direction from which the projectile came, only to be met by nothing. The shifter assumed this hostile human was hiding behind the boulder. Regardless, Jagara would have been swallowed by the shadows of the boulders, so there was a high chance she had not been spotted yet. Four paws became two feet, covered in a pair of worn-in black converse sneakers. The woman stepped over to the arrow, picking it up and marching over to the head she saw curiously peeking out now. Her blue-grey eyes blazed with outrage. How dare someone shoot at her for no reason? This puny human had no idea the amount of danger she was in now. Jagara appeared weaponless, clothed simply in a black and red My Chemical Romance t-shirt and some ash grey jeans, her blonde locks falling carelessly around her shoulders. She stared at the other female, her temper flickering at its boundaries. A low voice laced with anger resonated from the auxiliary’s throat as she addressed the imbecile, “Why the fuck did you shoot at me?” As she spoke, she threw the arrow at its owner’s feet, listening to the metal of the dulled head thud against the hard ground. “What kind of archer are you, to shoot at my heels? Do I fucking look like Achilles?”

If I Stay [Private] Empty
PostSubject: Re: If I Stay [Private]   If I Stay [Private] Icon_minitimeThu Aug 14, 2014 1:09 pm

Rubbing a gentle hand over her one blue and hazel speckled eye, Skyler leaned on the backs of her feet as she slowly regained composure. She must've been frightened for no reason, which meant she could continue, however as soon as she began to turn around, the sound of footsteps neared into the slight of hearing distance. Her attention moved towards it over her shoulder, and the color soon drained from her face as she found a pair of fiery stormy blue eyes staring back at her. She appeared effortlessly beautiful in plain sight, and Skyler couldn't help but wonder as to why one would wish to be out here, let alone dressed like that, and be angered so easily. Judging by the arrow in her hand, her suspicions were silently clarified and she concluded that her life was not in jeopardy. She didn't answer to any of the questions she was put up against, for she was too busy being cautious about the vicious noise that echoed out of the foreign woman's windpipe. From long ago in college, she knew and learned plenty on the multiple species running about their world, and even experimented socially amongst them to a degree while she was still young and reckless. Unfortunately, the human had not seen what this stranger had shifted from, and carefully swayed her choices between a werewolf and shifter according to the growl. It sounded more feline than canine, so she worked a slight idea around that rather than anything else that may have given it away.

Without a moment to spare, she gripped her bow tightly and held it carefully at her side before making a break for it. Skyler had never outrun a large feline before, and knew as a human, they had only evolved so much since the 21st century. Their speeds have grown slightly, but so have the animals along with them; the adrenaline would only last so long inside of her until she would give in. She tried climbing to higher ground, but her sneakers disabled that ability, for the soles were not built for steep terrains. Still, she grunted and pushed through the pain like she did every day for training at base. They worked in these obstacles all the time, which was the only experience she was running on at this point, along with instincts. She was thankful for that, but knew the outcome if she couldn't keep pushing herself. Skyler took no chances in looking behind her - it would only slow her down. Once she had gotten up onto a rock, she balanced herself from falling backwards. It was a long way down, she remembered. Bow in hand, her arms trembled from using so much power to get up there, pulling into shooting position just in time to find the female in her sights. The shaking of her hands would affect her shot, she knew. Firing, she ducked low against the rock and jumped off onto flatter around, heading to the edge of the territory where there was more shelter, which consisted of a tree or two. She panted heavily, and made the mistake of looking over her shoulder to see if she had missed or got the possible shifter, only to trip over her own feet and tumble to the ground. Skyler's eyes widened with great fear and doubt and she backed up on her palms and feet, trying to recover herself to get back up and sprint as fast as possible away.

If I Stay [Private] Empty

Jagara stared at the other furiously, the top of her lip twitching as it usually does when in anger. In her true form, her teeth would be bared and her lip curled up, but currently she held her disguise. Suddenly  the human darted. “Fuck.” Jagara ran after her, her feet remaining shoed for the first two strides before, in a leap, she shifted and sprinted in pursuit. With every bound, she was propelled by her powerfully muscled hind legs. Steadily, the gap between the two closed. It was then that the human made the mistake of beginning to climb. How easy this would be. It actually thrilled the snow leopard. The most dangerous game – the human. Connel was wrong in calling his own species the most dangerous of all. They were horrid creatures capable of mass destruction with their weaponry, but if you stripped them of that, they were nothing more than bare-skinned, weak animals filled with fear… Fear a snow leopard such as herself could smell. Jagara was halfway up the rock in her first leap, keeping low as she climbed the rest of the way. Her blue-grey eyes that focused on the human above her noticed the turning motion the female made, and then the drawing back of the bowstring, arrow nocked. Jagara hissed and sheathed her claws momentarily to slide away from her in distance, stopping as soon as the arrow whizzed by above her head, which was very close to the surface of the rock. Fatigue had affected the human’s aim, and for that Jagara was grateful. Now was the time to make her move.

The Auxiliary doubled back up the remaining distance with a bit of a scramble, rushing to get to the top. Once there, she saw the hostile running for the cover of trees below. The snow leopard’s muscled coiled, her frame lowering in quick preparation for a jump before she released the tension in her powerful hind legs and flew through the air, landing not far at all behind the woman. The dark form ran desperately, until she tumbled to the ground. Jagara’s eyes lit up in victory. ‘I’ve got you now.’ In a stride more, she pounced on the human just as she began to scramble up to her feet and move again, heavy forepaws landing squarely on her shoulders and shoving her back onto the hard ground with her weight as it hit her. It was almost like landing on top of a young mountain goat and feeling its knees buckle under her weight. “Make peace with your maker.” Jagara snarled into her ear briskly. In a heartbeat, her jaws were around the woman’s neck. In another, the feline turned her head sharply until she felt a snap.

Finished with her hunt, she withdrew from the body, rolling it over onto its back. The taste of blood remained in her mouth, coppery but satisfying. It was not so much the actual taste itself, but rather knowing it came from a human. Every life of theirs she took served to atone for the pain they had caused her throughout her life. Jagara breathed with her jaws open for a moment, allowing her heart to slow to a normal rate. She then grabbed the neck of the corpse and dragged her into the moonlight, inspecting the body. The holes where her canines had entered for the kill were spilling blood, but otherwise a cleanly-made wound. The snow leopard’s gaze flickered lower, to the base of her neck. There was a chain around it. Hooking a claw under the metal, she withdrew a dog tag. On there, it read the woman’s information. Airman Skyler Madison was the name of the girl. “How unfortunate,” she said flatly. Wasting no time after that, she took the body up again and dragged it over the rock bridge, over to a secluded end of the territory that had access to the canyon drop-off below. Jagara shifted and then lifted Skyler’s corpse to throw it off the cliff with a grunt in effort. It crashed below, making a dull thud. She turned around, looking around at the silent territory. She was alone once more. But now, there was something that made her wish to return to her den and drink some tea. Chamomile, two sugars. Jagara shifted back into her primal form and slowly worked her way up to a canter. Heading home, she crossed the border of the Pass of the Elders, disappearing into the night.
