| The silent Alpha stared the the pages spread over his desk. He looked over them once, twice, even a third time. Every time he looked, everything was the same, of course. He closed his lids, hiding his emerald hues from the light of day. Was it morning already? He had spent all night working on these documents, just to discover that he had gotten nowhere. He slammed his fist to the desk, grabbing a piece of paper within his palm and crinkled it up in his grasp. He leaned his body back against the wooden chair, eyes still closed. He held the paper tight in his hand, not letting it go. He opened his eyes and watched the ceiling fan slowly spin in the same direction it had since its creation. He moved his head to look back at the desk and pushed himself from the close proximity of it. He stood on his legs and stretched his back wide. His muscles expanded and contracted as he moved from side to side. He could feel them pop and ease into a relaxing position. He walked out of his office and looked around at the rest of the building. He grabbed his coat and slung it over his back. His suit ensemble was something to look at. Lucian looked good in many things he wore, but dressing up was his most attractive style. He walked out into the elevator, made his way to the lobby, and out to his car. He drove his car first to his territory, but as he was approaching the woods, he turned it back around. He needed to get more done and would not be able to sleep until that was accomplished. He drove to the library. There he would be able to study numerous things about the race he was trying to exterminate. When he arrived at the library, he parked far from the front of the building. He entered through the large spinning door, and walked up to the clerk. "Hello, I am looking for a section about Vampires. If you could kindly direct me in the right direction, I would be more than thankful." The older human looked up from her computer, she looked to Lucian, then to a shelf on the far right of the building. She lifted her hand and pointed to the shelf. she spoke not a word, but went right back to her screen. Lucian looked to the shelf her hand pointed at, then back to her. "Thanks," he whispered as he walked from the counter to the shelf. He made his way for the shelf, grabbing a book off the end and slipping through it front to back. He placed it back on the shelf and grabbed a couple in his hands. He took them over to a corner in the darker part of the library and turned on the small desk lamp. He sat and began reading through the pages. | |

| Sound asleep, Wesley felt a tap on his shoulder. It seemed to be with an item of great weight. He opened his eyes and turned his head a little to see behind his back. The blurry film covered his eyes as he tried to get his sight in focus. When the lights and colors came together to form shapes, Wesley had discovered just who was waking him up. A police officer. "Sir, you cannot sleep in a public place. Have you been drinking?" The cop stepped back and his hand moved to his belt. That was one thing Wesley could easily see. He sat up on the park bench and looked to the officer. "Sir, I can promise you I am not drunk. I do not even drink. I am just a homeless man out on his luck." It was then that Wesley remembered what he was wearing for the club that night. His button-up shirt was unbuttoned down to the middle of his chest, and his slacks now held dirt from falling in his drunken state. "Right. Sir, I am going to have to ask you to go on back to your homeless life, and do not return to this bench today." "Fine, you win. I will leave." Wesley lifted himself from the park bench and started walking away from the cop. As he turned around, he walked backwards and shouted out to the officer, "you have a grand and fantastical day sir." he turned right back around and headed from the cop. As he stuffed his hands into his pockets, he realized her had lost his wallet, all his cash and his way home. At this rate he was going to have to walk all the way back to the house. He was sure Loch was enjoying the time away from him. Sighing he looked around the place to where he was. He needed to sleep more before starting on his way back to the house. His eyes caught sight of the library. It was quiet and he could probably grab book, pretend he was reading, and sleep peacefully by any around him. As he walked to the spinning door, he pushed it open and proceeded inside. Just like any library, it was quiet. There was not even the sound of slight whispers. He looked around the areas, there were people in each aisle it seemed, but in the very back of the room, sat a male sitting at a desk. He walked to the very back of the room and grabbed a book. He sat down, his back resting against the wall, and opened the pages to read the contents falsely. But every time he tried to drift into sleep, the light from the lamp bothered him. "Dude, can you cut the light? I'm trying to read this glow-in-the-dark book here." | |

| As he flipped through each page, jotting down his own notes, he ignored the world around him. The smells of humans walking by did not even distract him. He was used to being around the humans, their flesh smelled so delicious most of the time. Instead he paid close attention to the pages before him, annotating anything of importance. The wolf was keen to know his greatest adversary, only seeing Demetri a handful of times in person. But the slimy blood-sucker had always gotten away. Lucian wanted nothing more in this world than to see their race be stricken from it. The first to die would be Demetri of course, watching him writhe in pain as he fell to the floor, his fluids seeping from all orifices. That was the sight which would make Lucian's life. He knew that one Demetri was thwarted, the rest of his manipulative race would crumb beneath his claws. The mere thought of murder sent a pleasant chill through the Alpha's body. He smiled and continued to read the pages. As he was completely in his book, he smelled the scent of a human male, one which his own odor was almost masked by the smell of horrid liquor from the previous night. It may or may not have been still in his system, this Lucian was unsure of. He stuck up his nose and held his breath. He looked to his pages and ignored him. He heard his body slump against the wall, but kept to his work. But just as Lucian was starting to forget the male was there, he made his presence well known to the werewolf king. Holding his snarl in his throat, he slowly turned to face the inebriated individual. "Look, I do not have time to deal with your shenanigans. Silence yourself, human. This is a library and I ma trying to read. Why don't you go take your sorry ass to the other side of the room and pop a squat there? In other words, leave me the fuck alone unless you want your last living moment to be within this library.." With that, Lucian turned right back around to his book. When he looked to his pages, he went over what he just said to the male. Hopefully this guy was a complete idiot and would not catch his "human" remark. He had a feeling this male would not be easy to get rid of. | |

| Wesley stared at the back of the other male for a long time. Many things ran through his hungover mind. When Lucian turned to face him, he held a smart ass smirk on his face. It was partially from his tainted state, but also they were in public. If this male before him was something other than his own race, Wesley would be safe around the other humans who lingered about the books. Just to be safe, Wesley looked to the exits. There were a few different ones he could get to quickly. If anything, Wesley had a wealth of speed from his experiences as a younger male. He was used to running from a girl's house once her father came home with a loaded shotgun and pointed it at him. He had a couple close calls before, but it was never enough to stop this boy from his game. He snickered as heard the other speaking. "Human" almost sounded like an insult, but before he could finish processing all of Lucian's words, the mysterious male turned back to his novel. Wesley took a few minutes to run over multiple possibilities before he got up, dropped the book to the floor, and walked to sit across from Lucian. As he pulled out the chair, he slid his butt into the seat. "Look," he whispered in a hushed tone. "I know who you are, more so what you are. But from looking at the book you are reading, I suspect you are not a vampire, as you would know yourself pretty well. I've heard stories of a dark and mysterious male with bright green flashing eyes, eyes that make you second guess your life instantly. That's you. You're Lucian. But since you have no idea who I am, I will go ahead and introduce myself. Name's Wesley, Wesley Harding. Obviously you know I am a human, but I wanted you to know that if you are looking to take down the vampires, I would be more than willing to forge an alliance with you. But, this does not concern the others of my race, in the army. This is merely Lucian and Wesley pact. I scratch your back, you scratch mine kind of deal. So tell me, who you going for?" | |

| The first thing Lucian wanted to do, was to slam this human against the wall. He closed his eyes and held the book tight in his grasp. He opened his eyes and stared across at the human. He had every intention to shut him up, but he was interrupted by a single word. Look. He would listen to the other, but only for as long as the human was in the safety of others. Too many witnesses here, and the way Lucian did things was loud and swift. But sometimes he would make it a slow and painful death. He would listen to the human, curious as to what he would say. "Go on then.." he spoke softly. He listened to the human rambling off on what seemed to be an attempt to brown-nosing him. But he did not care for that kind of thing. "Wesley and Lucian? How do I know I can trust you? You are a human after all, treacherous to your own kind. Your race does not understand the pack mentality, where we will do anything for our own kind, and here you are, trying to do things for who exactly? For me? Do you not fear me, human? You know who I am. You know what I can do. Yet you share yourself with me, and expect me to do what? To trust you?" He leaned back against the back of his seat and started to laugh softly to the other. He did not want to get the attention of the other people in the room, but this was just too funny to keep in. He covered his laugh with a serious look, and soon the humor had faded entirely. "Wesley Harding... What do you know of Shifters? I am looking for one in particular. He is a tiger, so I don't know how you fare with large felines. But would you be willing to kill to prove this 'alliance' to me?" | |
